The exceptionally mild winter has persuaded many birds to stick around in Finland for longer than usual. Some small birds have even started to tweet spring songs.

If it stays warm we'll have a crap summer puke.gif

Quote:Weather punter: Don’t break out the sunscreen next summer
Juhani Luoma, a weather prophet from Isokyrö in Ostrobothnia, western Finland, forecasts that 2014 will be a year of unstable weather with rapidly changing conditions. That instability will mean a fickle summer in which it’ll be difficult to pinpoint a period when it’s both hot and dry.

Rainy weather has disrupted the winter slumbers of many bears this year. Particularly in south-eastern Finland, the rain has brought many bears out of hibernation.

Yup.

Saw a seagull today.

Extremely rare in January. 13.gif

Water still open in the (Bothnian) gulf, it seems.

I heard a great tit singing a spring song whilst walking Macey just yesterday.

Surreal.

And for this we will pay, as is usual...I predict bitter cold and snow in the spring, right up till June. chuckle.gif

I hope I'm wrong, a mild winter and warm spring would be nice for a change. The last couple winters here have been pretty hardcore around here.

The weather here in Magic Valley is perfect, raining only we sleep, just enough for the lush gardens to produce everything we need. It's sunny and 81 degrees F, (approx 27C).
Outside, of course, it is a little different. we're expecting 30 cm of snow and strong winds later today.

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!

You can't have a warm winter AND summer. damned.gif

Check out these stats on monthly averages since 2005. Last month average is totally messed up, it was above zero so I need to contact them.

chuckle.gif Of course it's perfect. And I don't even need to tell you to stay safe or stay off the roads when it gets nasty. Common sense goes a long way. I'm not even going to say 'stay warm' as you're obviously plenty warm in Magic Valley.

Very little ice compared to normal. 13.gif For non-Finnish speakers 'jäätä' means ice obviously

" And I don't even need to tell you to stay safe or stay off the roads when it gets nasty."

I drive a manly Jeep in a manly manner, and even baby Jana has a lifted 2 door Rubicon model Jeep, and we plan to drive around in this stuff.
If we were more rural, we'ed join a jeep club that shuttles hospital staff to work so they can be where they're needed.

Of course, here in Magic Valley, the snow never stays more than enough time to get a picture, then we're back to our usual temperate clime.
