I just talked to the Washington/Oregon State Bureau of Land Management!

I just found out how to stake a gold mining claim for only $140.00 per year on any available BLM or National Forest Service lands not in wilderness areas. I can camp there 2 weeks at a time or go any time I want as day use and it is MY claim and it (The Claim) can be sold, traded, bartered or even loaned against and left in a will until the permit expires. There are other fees, but mostly it would cost no more than $550.00 for the first year. The first thing I have to do is prospecting. Find an area where I have found any type of valuable mineral. Amount doesn't matter. as long as I stake it off and clearly mark it and follow all the rules, 20 acres of land is mine for one year for around 500 bucks.

The only stipulation is that I have to actually be mining for a mineral while I'm there. I can't just set up camp and call it a weekend camping trip. I have to at least move some earth and process it. But they won't allow the claim unless I prove I have found valuable minerals on the land.

It could even be lead, silver, copper, gemstones, semi-precious agates, (like Ellensburg Blue) gold, platinum or anything else of value.

I don't think those licenses are expensive here either. And I know where it is! It's on the beach actually so I wouldn't mind doing that at all. No sir I wouldn't. bob.gif
