...has started!

yay.gif

Canada absolutely squished the Chzechs, 6 - 0,
and Team Europe beat Team USA 3 - 0
in the openers.

Finland's first game is against Team North America
at 3 o'clock in the morning...oi veh. There goes my
beauty sleep.

Anyway: It's on! clap.gif

And if anybody else than Canada takes it, I'd call it a
real surprise.

Team North America players are all under the age of 23 but it may be that experience will beat the speedier, younger inexperienced players.

Will be very interesting to watch,
if I can stay awake.

Finland's team prrrretty young, too.

I really want to see, how Patrik Laine
- youngest player of the tournament -
fares.

Horribly weak performance.
The team looked beat after the opponent's first goal,
as if that was enough to break their will.

The much celebrated goalie Pekka Rinne made himself
look ridiculously overrated. Nervous and insecure like
a bloody virgin.

One more loss like that, and I'm gonna have to ask the
new head coach, Mr Marjamäki, to give his job to someone
with a heart and a brain and disappear.

Geeez, what an anticlimax.
Been looking forward to this all summer long.
Now, I don't mind losing a hard fought, manly game, but...
that was bloody despicable.

Kudos to Mikko Koivu for not trying to explain anything away. thumbsup.gif

It may be that there is a age/experience ratio needed to win any sport, I imagine.

Quote:If there is such a thing as a magic formula for winning the World Cup, our research has shown that you usually need a team with an average age of 27 and 800-plus games of national team experience across the squad.

That may well be.

But the thing with hockey is that fabulous, extreme visibility
of the spiritual side of things...yup, best, smartest team sport on the planet.
I could literally hear the guys' faith and moral backbone snap last night,
when that first cheap North America goal was scored.

And I want Team Suomi to always shine!
C'mon, guys!
Swedistan next...

Of course.

I just can't get excited about it, it's just not possible for me to watch it as hockey is best enjoyed live.

Well, not much excitement, so far.
More like utter humiliation.
Chances are you won't miss much:

Beat the Swedes, or it's over.

Only group winners and runners-up
go through to semifinals.

Puhhuhh...

Media hype has been massive the last month or so.

The pressure on the guys to win tomorrow
must be worse than on a "moderate" at the mosque.
Wonder how it feels...

I hope they can find that Moomin spirit.
And Li'l Koivu has to lead the pack.
No 2 ways around it.
