Last spring:

Finland to lobby EU for abolition of daylight saving time

Finland is to begin lobbying to abolish daylight saving time after more than 70,000 Finns signed a petition calling for it to end.

After mulling it over and conducting an online survey that crashed their servers:

Today:

EU ought to end biannual clock changes, Juncker says

The European Commission will decide on Friday to recommend the scrapping of biannual daylight-savings time changes and keep clocks permanently on summertime, commission president Jean-Claude Juncker has told German ZDF TV. A large 80% majority of 4.6m EU citizens said in a recent survey the summertime scheme should be abolished - a record high response for any EU public consultation. Council and parliament approval will also be needed.

The biannual time change was originally implemented to save energy, yet dozens of studies have found changing the clocks have no effect, and in some cases increased energy use.

Makes no fkn sense up here close to the arctic circle. It's expensive and detrimental to health and evidently most fellow Europeans agree it's a shitty idea.

"Daylight savings time is anti-physiologic, and it’s a little deleterious, at least for several days," Dr. Nicholas Rummo, director of the Center for Sleep Medicine at Northern Westchester Hospital told Health.com, adding that "light earlier in the day is more helpful for them."

Research has also shown that DST, and shifts and the rupturing of sleep patterns is also linked to myocardial infarctions (a.k.a. heart-attacks), car accidents, and medical equipment malfunctions.

What's surprising to most people in America is the number of myths surrounding the reason why DST was implemented in the first place.

One story says it was invented by Benjamin Franklin for optimizing daylight for Agriculture workers and another states it was to conserve fuel.

Both are false and misleading.

It's frightening how far back a plan was developed globally to impose social engineering and manipulation with subtle sleep deprivation.

Well,
It's hard to be humble when you are an American.
But old Ben Franklin wasn't all he had been cracked up to be. (similar to Edison)
He generally rode on the coattails of  exceptional Americans who weren't as well financed as he was ( by foreign entities).
