A better real world test is your internet speed.
Check this out.. http://www.speedtest.net/
Our download speed is 52.70 Mbps and upload is 12.57 Mbps.

I'm getting about 29 down and 14 up but that is on wifi.

That's not bad really. Far better than when you were up North. You took away my entire speed comedy spiel when you relocated. chuckle.gif

I guess it was better than nothing, but I sure am happy as a pig in shït to be away from it.

That's not bad. A lot of Internet speeds in the US and Canada are kinda' banana republic, and two or three times the price as what most of Europe pays.

I know, man. It was damn near dial up speed. One of the boys is wired direct to the router. He is getting 46 down and 7 up.

my total using a wifi signal from across the street was 3:53

I render at 33:4 or something like that
using firefox 43

on a 2007 mdl Toshiba sattelite laptop with an over used hard drive and shït for memory , something like 1.2 gig mem
and 180 gig hd

not too bad owing to the fact I am on a really slow wifi and at a distance of 100 feet

Wi-Fi has gotten significantly faster over the last few years thanks to new standards.

Granted. But on the best day with the planets aligned and the wind behind it, it's only half the speed of ethernet, and not nearly as secure.

For sure, it's better than it was, but nothing beats a cable. Uploading a website via FTP will drive ya' loony on a wifi connection. chuckle.gif

Fiber optics does.

There are hacks you can make to your router and greatly improve speeds. They are purposely slowed down. I can't remember what. I read it quite a while back. I didn't bother trying it because my router belongs to my provider.

It's amazing how much effort they put into slowing our connections down.
