cool idea. but wouldn't shipping containers get very cold during winter time (and incredibly warm during summer time) due to insufficient insulation?

if it really works i wouldn't mind living in a shipping container house.^^ (as long as those used shipping containers didn't transport any toxic waste or something)

With temperature ranging between +30 and -30 it would have to have some proper insulation for sure. But I'd love to build something like that. Not here though 13.gif

Is this what the high cost of building materials and whatever else drives us to? Some of the structures that got help from an architect($) are just fine, but others remind me of a metal 'shanty town' feel.

Yes, where was the gov't and insurance company monies to rebuild right away? But, yes, the containers are surely a great idea while waiting for gov't and insurance cos. to get it in gear; are they getting it in gear?

NO its over 3 1/2 years now , the Gov EQC , the CH CH city council, the multitude of insurance Companies all dodging a arguing

the Gov selected ONE major firm ( Fletchers ) and all other contractors HAD to work thro' them , MILLIONS being salted away in secret back pockets

roads , drainage sewerage , power and all other works are being done on hourly rates
(SHOULD'VE BEEN let for tender with a set price and time duration )
as it is now, no firm is in any hurry to finish !! Ya see 6 men doing 2 men's work ! The men are paid good money $25 hr,---- but they are charged out at $60 - $100 hr depending on skill
EVERY section of roading with services to be done has 3, 4 or 5 machines parked up and lots of them haven't turned a track in weeks ! MOST of them are a $1000 a day +

its a huge bloody RORT ! I 'spose it was the same in New Orleans or any major disaster the Vultures gather and billions wasted and syphoned off to 1 % ers

This reinforces my belief that when TSHTF we are all on our own and left to our own devices to survive.
