seems like the background becomes distorted after a set period of time on here. the background turns white and the sections are compacted..but after i log off, clear cookies in browser, everything goes back to normal. iam on chrome btw.. its really odd its happening on here only

Chrome is notorious for not loading CSS correctly. Has nada to do with cookies. I abandoned Chrome because of that.
Never got it here, but a lot at other sites did same thing to me.
The only cookie we give has to do with keeping you logged in.
No trackers here at all.
That being said, as a web developer I use Chrome, FF, & IE to test all websites I work on, I've never had that problem here, it's something on your end that I can't diagnose as I can't recreate it.

Ever run a program called CCleaner? Or ADW cleaner? You should. Google both, install and run.
Badly coded sites can give you browser herpes that affect your experience on other venues.

I've never had the problem you're describing, ES. But then I'm not on Chrome either
