Potentially deadly H1N1 — the influenza virus strain behind the 2009 pandemic — continues its resurgence in Michigan, with three more deaths reported by hospital officials.

About a dozen adults and children — patients who previously were healthy — have been on life support at the University of Michigan Health System’s hospitals because of the virus, according to the hospital system.

Three adults have died, according to a health system spokeswoman. An infant from central Michigan also has died from H1N1, according to the Michigan Department of Community Healthhttp://www.thetimesherald.com/article/20...fe-support

Stay out of crowds JB, let your hubby shop. Just don't expose yourself to these things if you can avoid it. Soap and water kills most of cooties so basic hygiene is a given.

That's good advice Octo. I'm glad your hubby is such a valuable support to you.

What's going on with this H1N1...lower mainland B.C. and Albertans being warned to get flu shot...

Quote:B.C. Mainland:
More than a dozen patients are in intensive care, some on ventilators, because of the H1N1 flu virus, according to the chief medical officer for a B.C. Lower Mainland health authority.

Quote:Alberta:
As of New Year's Day, there were 965 lab-confirmed cases of flu, 920 of them H1N1. Five patients died while in the intensive-care unit, and 251 people have been sick enough to be admitted to hospital.

Ontario/Quebec:

“It is important for everyone, but especially for children under five years old and those born after 1957 to get vaccinated,” said Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health at the EOHU.

For those opposed to getting vaccinated, the EOHU recommends washing your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and cough or sneeze into your elbow.
