A San Mateo County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed an 18-year-old woman after family members called 911 seeking an ambulance.

The family members sought medical help because the dead woman, Yanira Serrano-Garcia, had psychological disabilities and had been refusing to take her medication, according to local television station KRON.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. near the coastal Bay Area city of Half Moon Bay.

Serrano-Garcia was in the street outside the Moonridge housing complex when armed deputies — not paramedics — arrived. Witnesses and the deputies say she had a knife.

“Shortly thereafter there was a confrontation where the deputy was in fear for his life and as a result he fired his weapon,” sheriff’s department spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt told KRON.

Witnesses say the girl was shot in the back so if true, how could she have been attacking the cop who shot her? coffeetime.gif

Seems like if they are not shooting people for no reason, they are shooting their pets. Something is all so wrong that when you call police you increase your chances of death.

i'm glad that the police here is well trained. such a thing like in the following video is unthinkable:

(of course sometimes people get shot here too but it's very rare and usually the police officer in question gets charged with murder...)

Yeah it seems really chaotic. I don't think similar situations play out like that here either. damned.gif

A shot in the leg as you said should stop anyone dead in his or her tracks. dunno.gif

Back around the late 1990's here in the Boston area the hyper paranoid Nazi emulating Drug Enforcement Agency storm raided the wrong house and kicked in the wrong door proceeding to scream and swear while waving automatic weapons like robotic Schutzstaffel tackling the wrong man to the floor a seventyish year old priest who was so shocked and stunned he died of a heart attack and nothing happened to the Gestapo cops while the local tax payers were forced without any say in the devious matter and without a damn choice but to cough up a few million dollars for the family of the suddenly deceased...
