An eight-month-old infant was axed to death by his father, who said he committed the gruesome act to please the Hindu goddess Durga (Kali). The horrific incident happened in Narain Purva village in Barabanki district of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Rajkumar Chaurasia (Hemant) claimed that he killed his son after being "ordered to do so by the Goddess Kali," according to Deccan Herald.

"Hemant had planned to kill the infant soon after his birth. He thought that the sacrifice will bring happiness in the lives of the childless couples, who visited the Goddess Kali temple," police said.http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/513194...sdurga.htm

I can at least understand human sacrifice to bring rain, make crops grow, and ward off disasters.

To bring joy to childless couples? They're evolutionary deadenders.

That is stupid. Unforgivably f***ing stupid.

And aren't you supposed to pick some poor schmuck at psuedorandom? Deliberately raising a baby for sacrifice is sick.

For thousands of years billions of intentionally and nefariously misled astray people have been so emotionally warped and twisted and so enslaved by the fear and paranoia thats been perpetually drilled into our minds by narrow minded blinding faith and the domination and control unleashed upon us by demonic organized religions who are the most horrible evils to ever plague humanity as we continue to robotically praise and worship something we've never seen and never heard and never touched as we obliviously surrender our only souls to malevolent diabolical gods who have ripped and torn humanity apart while drowning us all within the rivers of tears and the oceans of blood of tortured and slaughtered innocence as our empathy and compassion and love for each other is being ruthlessly driven into extinction as we fall down into a greed driven bottomless abyss of almost complete and total denial...

Hindu gods do not take animal sacrifice at all, and Kali is the goddess of the underworld. You know, death. She's not a bringer of life.
That would Tara or Lakshmi.
Serious wtf

Sorry.. Kali is one of my Patron goddesses. I am also an initiate of Oya in Santeria. They are technically each other's counter part in a different religion.
In voodoo she's maman Brigette. In Mexico specifically she's Santa Muerta. In celtic lore she is the Morrigan.
In egyptian lore she's Sekmet.
They have varying traits in each religion

Kali and Oya both specifically watch over the dead and the underworld, and are goddesses of war death and destruction and justice.
They are not evil, but mete out divine justice and even death if it's karmically warranted.
They are both protective of their initiates and ward's. They both grant money when petitioned. Oya is the goddess of business.

Kali,, you don't mess with her, and... Happy couples is so not her domain.
She is called the destroyer of men. She wears a necklace of skulls and holds a decapitated man's head in one hand, her spear in the other.
In some places she has numerous hands with numerous weapons in each.

This is a nice statue of her. As you can see, she is not a warm and fuzzy goddess.

Well, it doesn't look like she is fuzzy, which is good.

She might be warm though.
