What you need to know about the new ransomware ravaging the internet

Quote:Cybersecurity firms originally believed the malware to be a perviously known form of ransomware called Petya, but Kaspersky Lab says it’s actually a different, unknown version kind of ransomware, causing the cybersecurity company to dub it NotPetya.

Quote:Interestingly, the Petya/NotPetya software uses a Microsoft (MSFT) Windows vulnerability similar to the one exploited by the WannaCry 2.0 ransomware which hit the web a few weeks ago. But it looks like that exploit, which was originally used by the NSA and called EternalBlue, is just one of three attack points this ransomware takes advantage of.

Quote:To be clear, ransomware doesn’t just target Windows PCs. The malware has been known to impact systems ranging from Android phones and tablets to Linux-based computers and Macs.

If you get an email from a company you don't do business with and you aren't expecting the email, DON'T OPEN IT!

DON'T OPEN EMAILS FROM STRANGERS!

DON'T OPEN EMAILS FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW THAT HAVE ATTACHMENTS UNLESS YOU CONFIRM THEY SENT IT!

No surprise, I kinda' knew it was on the way after windows source code got leaked... https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/24/15867...-code-leak AGAIN.
They say it's not bad. chuckle.gif

uh huh.

Not bad like in a Fukushima's not bad sorta' way.

I'm always ready to format my HD's & SSD's and be back up and running in about 30 - 60 minutes.

This is just one reason I use Malware bytes, I pay for this program...Well worth it.

Not that I open up bad links in my email, Kelli uses Google Chrome on this Laptop, and so do I, every time we use it we get Malware.

Firefox, I never have that problem, just Firefox has turned into a pile of shït and slow !!!

If I want to surf fast I use Google, I have tried a few other browsers on here, but Google seems to built for speed.

I am on it now, Malware bytes catches most of them, but when I close out for the day I run it anyway.

The battle never ends, surf smart.

We were out on Tampa Bay one day in a small 14ft runabout boat ,, just playing around doing
tail spins and having a blast ,,

we came to a slow stop ,,

out of the water shot a Dolphin right over the top of me ,, most mind blowing experience ,,
scared the crap out of me until I realized what it was .

at first , as it happened , I thought it was a Shark trying to take my head off .
whew ,,

She followed us across the Bay to a Beach Front Bar with a dock ,,

I think she had a crush on me , I bought her a Fish or two , she'd take it right out
of my Hand .

I sometimes love the Company I keep . Like those Deer Fawns , and the Hedge Hog Twins ,,
I think animals like me perhaps .

Just south of there, Bradenton beach, I made buds with a manatee.
I couldn't believe how friendly and social they are, kinda freaky a first when a big animal comes up to you and you don't have a clue what they are going to do.
And then he acted like a big puppy with flippers. chuckle.gif
In Sarasota, there is a Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary where they take injured birds and nurse them back to heath, as a result, sometimes you run into friendly pelicans.
The animals down there are possibly the friendliest on earth.
