The postponement suggests Republicans are struggling to win the votes necessary to pass the measure, as Democrats promise they'll oppose it.
Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said the meeting would be delayed to give members more time to call their districts and consider the measure. He said the committee would give an hour's advance notice for when the meeting is rescheduled.
Several Republicans are thought to oppose the bill as not going far enough to water down ObamaCare.
In its latest form, the bill re-opens the government and extends the debt ceiling into next year. But some GOP members were already tweeting and offering other indications that they could not support it.
