yes part of it..people are depending more and more on food banks ..and the one's who work but barely make over the limit to qualify for food banks ..they go without. and ones that could buy refuse to pay the high prices

"The memo also advises stores to be sure to "rotate" dairy products and eggs, which means removing expired items and adding new stock at the bottom and back of display cases, the Times said."

Eggs have a shelf life of 7-8 weeks, and they sit there till expiration?
Never happen with the chips, you can bet.

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!

I guess that was the reason behind the midterm results. Global warming, amnesty and gun control don't matter so much if you're hungry.

Quote:The memo, marked "highly sensitive", asks Wal-Mart marketing managers to make sure they discount aging meat and baked goods to maximize chances of selling them before their expiration dates

This takes a memo from the CEO? LOL! I've heard it's not unusual for large chains like Malwart and Safeway to repackage meat with new b/b dates and or spray paint it to look fresh. It's not rocket science to discount meat to move it off the shelf.

I thought it was common practice everywhere to sell expiring products at a discount

Malwart opened here several years ago after a long battle with the downtown Business Assoc. It's gutted the town, the mall is being turned into an assisted living home, stores closing everywhere. Sad.
