I've got no idea what these things are called in English:

İmage

...but they get childishly good when you fry them in lots of (eco-) coconut oil
and a wee drop of honey! Sprinkle some basil and juuust a little curry on top.

Ohm nom nom!

I like parsnip very much.

Mornin Kritters, I was wondering if anyone has a extra-ordinary tasty BBQ side dish recipe(s) for an upcoming family get-together BBQ?

At this point, my sister is taking care of potato salad and deviled eggs, my mother all the desserts, so I was thinking cornbread and perhaps baked beans. Foods that can travel well in the car because it will be a 2.5 hour drive.

Morning US wave.gif

Last week I marinated a roast and made shishkebabs with just chunks of beef and chunks of pineapple, bbq'd. It went over extraordinarily well.

What a coinky-dink, I suggest that to my mom, who said that my nephew and his wife would be looking after the meat dishes. But, my first choice....so good. wave.gif

What about one of those fat round loaves of sourdough and a spinach dip?

I am trying to avoid anything containing sour cream, mayonnaise, etc. because the car ride is 2.5 hours long and it may spoil somewhat, even packed in ice. I was thinking something breadish and/or something in a vinegry or sugary sauce.

There's lots of recipes for great Italian breads and flavored olive oil dips...
