On the upside, Detroit offers the cheapest properties you can buy in the US.

Fact is we could own a mansion there if we wanted to put up a concrete wall on the exterior with a razor fence inside with bear traps between.
A couple of AK 47's, and no fear. damned.gif

that's not an upside, that's like selling a rabbit a hotdog bun to sleep in, letting him think he will be safe.

chuckle.gif with good reason too.

Detroit ranked first among the 50 largest cities in taxes and last among property values in a 2011 study by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in Cambridge, Mass. Detroit taxes on a $150,000 house were $4,885, twice the national average of $1,983. The city’s average house price, $16,800, was nearly 10 times lower than the next lowest, Mesa, Ariz.

Property value lowest and taxes highest. Wow.

Remove all opportunities for the common man and see what happens. Yeah, it sounds like a sick Nazi social experiment.

From the article

Quote:The News reviewed more than 200,000 pages of tax documents and found that 47% of the city’s taxable parcels are delinquent on their 2011 bills.

Delinquency is so pervasive that 77 blocks had only one owner who paid taxes last year

I don't blame, them, shutting down schools, police only for the elite, half of city revenue going to service debt. Sick social experminet for sure, but the politicans who created it still get their golden parachutes.

If everyone was packing a gun, that wouldn't happen.

Guess which political party has been running the show up there, if you guessed dems/left/libs or same party as the current administration, you would be correct.

Now guess who gets to bail them out to keep them from starving/freezing to death.
