I cry too for the isolation and hopelessness the Ukrainian people must feel and for all of humanity.

Thanks Gumby! Hi!

The Finland joining NATO comes up regularly. A majority of Finns oppose this as we don't mind a relaxed neighborly relation with Russia. And also

Russia has been very clear about how they would feel about a Finnish NATO membership

In our county there's a small village with a population of 950 people. Out of those there are 70 Ukrainians permanently living there. That number doubles when the seasonal workers from Ukraine arrive.

The place is in fact called Little Ukraine.

They like it here

@ Octo, I just read that Finland and Latvia are 90% dependent on Russian gas and oil, is that true?

No I believe Finland is 100% buying Russian oil. We make long term deals, like 25 years at a time or so.

I just heard from the Premier here that we buy Russian gas and oil and that he is going to change things up here so we are no longer dependent at all on Russian gas and oil.

Russia is our most important export market. Economic sanctions against Russia are felt here and affect local businesses.

Finland is a popular tourist destination for Russians. And their money is as good as any.

I'm not Putin friendly or think he's not out of his goddamn mind, as all my Russian and Ukrainian friends think, but knee jerk reactions aren't anything but fluff.

And it was an extremely stupid idea to shut down the Keystone pipeline.

Biden admin focusing on virtue signaling in favor of energy independence helped pave the road to this tragedy.

US has ‘voluntarily’ ended all use of our own natural energy sources: Miller

Former Trump adviser Stephen Miller says we had energy independence under Donald Trump and they made a decision, a voluntary decision, to end it.

Biden administration freezes new oil and gas drilling leases after court rules against key climate tool

https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/21/us/biden-climate-social-cost-of-carbon-court/index.html

"The Biden administration has once again put a pause on new leases and permits for federal oil and gas drilling after a judge blocked the administration from using a metric that estimates the societal cost of carbon emissions."
