CLEVELAND (WJW) — The future is here. Those tired of taking out their wallet or phone to pay for things could soon skip that step entirely, thanks to a new implantable payment chip.
The British-Polish company Walletmor has created a microchip that can be implanted inside a person’s hand and used as one would tap a credit card for payment. The technology is only currently allowed to be sold in the European Union and the U.K.
“The implant can be used to pay for a drink on the beach in Rio, a coffee in New York, a haircut in Paris – or at your local grocery store,” founder and chief executive Wojtek Paprota told the BBC. “It can be used wherever contactless payments are accepted.”
The company said it’s the first to sell these kinds of chips to willing customers, unleashing its biopolymer technology about the size of a small safety pin on the world last year. The cost is around $300.

it's all been/is heading to this:
Given all the signs that something is very amiss ATM and in some of the darkest ways possible, it kinda' makes my blood run cold.
No potential for abuse on something like that either... Access to make payments anytime anywhere no card or bulky wallet, until of course you dare to say something slightly against the grain on some form of social media and oops there goes that.
Eventually that's your ID, SS#, Covid Status, Disease du jour/of the month club ticket to do all manner of travel, food etc.
To think people will actually line up and pay for this is unimaginable, but so are most of the other things going on right now.
Governments will probably follow suit and give them out free, like the Covid vaccinations.
This.
It's interesting that out of 4,000 people surveyed that 51% gave it a thumbs up...the future is definitely here and people want it, it appears.
Power without abuse loses it's charm.
